World Ballet Live in HD (TBA)
Sorrento Athenaeum Cinemas is delighted to announce the arrival of the inaugural Cinema Season of World Ballet Live in HD. The season commencing February 2010, features six leading performances from the Royal Ballet and the Paris Opéra Ballet.

From February to June, dedicated ballet cinema patrons will be given the rare opportunity to travel to London and experience the spectacle and opulence of the historical Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Paris Opera Ballet, Opera National De Paris, from the comfort of their seat.

The latest addition to Cinema Alternate Content, World Ballet gives audiences the chance to witness in stunning High Definition and 5.1 Surround Sound from the comfort of your cinema seat. Each performance has been shot with seven cameras, constantly cutting between multiple angles, close-ups, long and medium shots, and bird’s eye views of the stage to give audiences a uniquely intimate experience.

World Ballet Cinema Season in HD will launch on February 27 at Sorrento Athenaeum Cinemas with the Royal Ballet’s utterly captivating Tales of Beatrix Potter. The remaining world famous ballets in the season include Tchaikovsky’s classic The Sleeping Beauty and the most celebrated and poignant ballet, Giselle which launched The Royal Ballet’s Alina Cojocaru to instant global stardom, the heartmelting Romeo and Juliet and the enduring gem La Fille Mal Gardee. The season will conclude with the Rudolf Nureyev choreographed production of Cinderella, exquisitely performed by Paris Opéra Ballet.

Digital Cinema allows audiences to enjoy entertainment that could previously only be accessed via live venues. Cinemas are fast becoming a place of vibrant cultural expression, and Sorrento Athenaeum Cinemas are thrilled to be able to offer its diverse audiences the chance to participate in the World Ballet’s exhilarating spectacular; an un-missable season for aficionados and first timers alike.
